Dear Patriots, please stop falling to pieces! I am very glad you won yesterday, but you're going to run out of players!

I am suffering mild/moderate hearing loss in the lower frequencies.

(No, this is not from going to rock shows. That would be hearing loss in the upper frequencies. So nyah. My earplugs did their job, my hearing is better than average in the upper frequencies.)

Have to get some more tests, my doc is optimistic that he can restore at least some of the hearing I have lost. He is also awesome and well informed and knows why I have black spots on my ear drums, so I am pretty comfortable with him as a doc. Can't get the tests until September, so I'm annoyed about that, but there isn't a lot I can do at this point. Oh yeah - this is probably related to the vertigo thing which is good, treating the one should help resolve the other but they need to find out why the one is happening.

Basically, this means if I tell you I didn't hear you I really didn't! Help a girl out, speak up - especially you deep voiced gents.

Today, I ask about sheets-
How often do you replace your sheets?  (As in, buy new sheets, not put clean ones on your bed)
How many sets of sheets do you use regularly?  Do you just keep washing and reusing the same set, or do you have two or more sets that you wash and rotate onto the bed?
What kind of sheets do you like?

Friday night I moseyed over to Berkeley to meet up with Sara, Aaron, Michael et all to see Carrie Fisher in "Wishful Drinking". I laughed, I cried, there was a glitter gun involved. Seriously, it was a pretty amazingly funny and touching show. It's impressive to see someone be that brutally honest about their life in front of a room full of strangers. After the show I went over to Anandamayi''s where attendees from three different shows (and some people that hadn't even been to the theater, imagine!) got together to chat, review shows, and eat cookies (mmm. cookie).

Saturday Justin and I got up and puttered around for a bit before heading over to Yuri's Night about 2. (We stopped for In and Out Burger on the way, cause yum.)

Yuri's night was kind of like some people had gotten together and said "mmm. what random collection of stuff that Barbara likes can we stick together for a party? And what fun things can we add to that just, I dunno, for kicks?" And that is how I ended up watching Buzz Aldren speak under the same disco ball Freezepop played under a few hours later, watched and airshow and then went to dance to a dj playing in a hanger at NASA, and drank a beer while listening to some NASA guys talking about the new lunar lander program at 11:30 at night. Did I mention that we were at the NASA Ames Research facility? Right by the zeppelin hanger? Yeah, Justin got his picture taken. :) Finally stumbled into the house around 3am.

So don't ask me why, but we were up and out of the house and in the Huckleberry Botanic Preserve by 11am on Sunday. Gorgeous hike. Whole different sets of wildflowers than we saw at Mount Tam last weekend, though there were still lots of wild iris, which I love! We didn't pick up the guided plant tour, but we still stopped at all the markers to see what we were supposed to be looking at. It looks like they may have some kind of invasive fungus rolling through there, so I hope everything goes ok for the trees. Stopped in Rockridge for brunch because we were starving and I demanded pancakes. Picked up a book on hold at the library, headed home where I totally failed to nap before Kate and Melissa came over for an exciting shopping adventure. We all managed to find at least something before the stores closed at 7 (stupid Sunday!) The ladies headed home and J and I grabbed indian for dinner, then watched the new James Bond. (Ok, Justin watched the movie. I woke up for the action scenes.)

Weekend = A++

For Valentine's Day Abdul brought us chocolate! And then gave us an extra long abs workout after we all ate chocolate. Ouch. I am still in pain. Competing on the 2nd, though I think my hopes for nationals this year are shot. (Too bad, it's in San Jose.)

I have had my hair chopped off and I like it.

Sandy is coming to visit in March and I am super excited!

Justin got me a portrait sitting with Suzanne for valentine's day - also exciting.

People I know in California send a lot of handwritten notes in the mail. I think this is awesome, there is nothing quite as good as opening the mailbox and having a card!
